I posted a picture to my profile and it worked yesterday
But when i got on today all i saw was a box with a red x in it
please help i really liked the picture.

If you mean the picture that is currently in your profile, you should probably download the picture and put it up on Photobucket or something, so you don't steal that site's bandwidth, and so you'll always know where the picture will be.
